She sits inside her flowery petals of warmth
Comes out when the first beams of sunlight are born
Wars and hunger
Destruction and anger
There’s nothing in this world to see
I said nothing in this world to see
She let inside a well known stranger into her nest
She built a second layer of petals around his beating
Chest to save him
Her arms bent round him
He’s still shaking from the storm
All night she keeps him warm
Not a day goes by where he doesn’t feel the longing urge to be with her
He’s the only insect around, yet he feels safe in her lair
Pollinate, respirate, validate, amputate
Metamorphose
Nearly drowned in the lake of cocytus
She fished him out with a strong guiding hand
And while his wings were still stuck to his torso
She safely swam the both to land
A sea of men
Unarmed, standing, staring
They rushed to the nearest exit and made their way home
A waltz performed by just the two
No prospectors, an intimate act
It was then and there that he knew
An empty shell that he left aback
And as he shed his skin
And his wings came to flutter
He opened his gunk-blinded eyes
And his heart would quickly emerge
Like an axolotl’s gills
An eternal youth
A safety of unencumbered will
Nothing like it was before
Nothing like it ever was
Seven verses and seven acts
Afterwards the crown shone golden in the field at night
